About Sheltowee

In 1778, legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone was captured by the Shawnee Indians. But rather than being treated as an enemy, Boone’s remarkable skills as a woodsman and explorer earned him their respect — and eventually, their acceptance.

Boone was adopted into the tribe and given the name Sheltowee, which means “Big Turtle.” The Chief who adopted him believed Boone had the broad shoulders and steadfast nature of the turtle — a symbol of strength, resilience, and steady progress.

We chose the name Sheltowee because it reflects the spirit of exploration, courage, and forging new paths. Boone opened new territories for those who followed — we aim to do the same for entrepreneurs, investors, and growing businesses.

At Sheltowee Network, we help businesses grow, investors discover opportunities, and founders navigate uncharted territory.

We may never match the legacy of our namesake, but every day, we strive to live up to the values he represented — strength, perseverance, and bold exploration.
